Easter Skiing

If you are looking for great Easter skiing then our advise is go high after this years disappointing snowfall, although we don't anticipate it happening two years on the trot! Previous years have seen great skiing so our advise is don't be put off by one bad year! Easter ski holidays are some of the best in our view for families in particular as the longer, warmer days are far more pleasant for the children, as opposed for example to the cold Christmas or New Year ski holidays.

Easter Ski Holidays

This year the Easter ski holidays were disappointing with some of the worst snow on record in Europe. A snow drought in January and February and an exceptionally warm March saw the lower altitude ski resorts fighting to maintain the slopes. The higher altitude ski resorts faired better but the unusually warm climate still left ski resorts with limited snow and some south facing slopes icy.

After the last three years where the Easter skiing has been some of the best of the ski season, its unfortunate that such an extremely poor Easter this year will last long in the memory and dampen demand in the future.   Our view is that such is cyclical and we therefore look forward to a bumper Easter ski season next year, only time will tell if we are right!

Easter Skiing Holidays

With the half term ski break rapidly approaching its safe to say the Ski Easter break won't be far away. The latter is fast becoming one of the most popular ski weeks of the year as people find the warmer and longer days, typically with some of best snow cover of the season, too tempting to miss.

Easter Ski

With the new ski season now not so far away, many of us will be thinking about booking our first, and then our second week which for many is the Easter ski holidays in April. With Easter being late this year, the need to go high is in our opinion one of the most important criteria and resorts in Chamonix, Espace Killy, Three Valleys, Verbier, and Zermatt are particularly well suited for let skiing and Chamonix last year boasted 50cm of powder and nearly 4m of snow up until late April.

Family Ski Resorts

Not many people associate Chamonix as a great destination for families, with its macho high altitude, off-piste reputation, but at one end of the valley it offers one of the best family friendly ski resorts in the name of Les Houches. A beautiful tree lined skiing lower down and higher up a sunny plateau, the skiing is great with confidence building blues and reds and the ESF Ski School is just great with the children. Next time your looking for a great family ski resort, you therefore might want to give it a try.

Family Chalets

Many of the Easter ski visitors are family ski groups looking for a great family chalet and therefore the new site that is soon to launch called Family Chalets is likely to be a welcome addition. The operators have committed to only provided great family chalets and this by their words will mean chalets that really are focused on family skiing holidays and have both staff and facilities geared to support and ensure visitors have a very special family ski break.

Ski Seasons Finale

Yesterday it seemed was the final day for the really high altitude luxury ski resorts as the cable cars carried their last clients of the 2009/10 ski season. Despite the end of the ski season we'll keep blogging on the ski world and the Easter ski options in particular.
