This year the Easter ski holidays were disappointing with some of the worst snow on record in Europe. A snow drought in January and February and an exceptionally warm March saw the lower altitude ski resorts fighting to maintain the slopes. The higher altitude ski resorts faired better but the unusually warm climate still left ski resorts with limited snow and some south facing slopes icy.
After the last three years where the Easter skiing has been some of the best of the ski season, its unfortunate that such an extremely poor Easter this year will last long in the memory and dampen demand in the future. Our view is that such is cyclical and we therefore look forward to a bumper Easter ski season next year, only time will tell if we are right!

Easter Ski
With the new ski season now not so far away, many of us will be thinking about booking our first, and then our second week which for many is the Easter ski holidays in April. With Easter being late this year, the need to go high is in our opinion one of the most important criteria and resorts in Chamonix, Espace Killy, Three Valleys, Verbier, and Zermatt are particularly well suited for let skiing and Chamonix last year boasted 50cm of powder and nearly 4m of snow up until late April.

Easter Skiing
This week sees the start of the Easter ski holidays and already there is an increase in the families enjoying the spring holiday Easter ski break. At the moment the slopes are still relatively quiet considering the number of schools who have broke up for the Easter holidays. This weekend typically brings with it a further influx with French, Swiss, and Austrian skiers taking to the slopes to make use of the Europe wide national holidays.
In terms of the weather, after heavy snowfall, the slopes have just been returned to bright sunshine so those that have got away for a family ski with the family will have been well rewarded with great snow and warm weather today. This said, the weather forecast is for more snow late Tuesday, Wednesday all day, and also Thursday morning so if you haven't booked an Easter ski weekend, you might want to check what is available.
For family chalets, sadly most will have been booked but they may still be one or two around.
